KOMIR was established on September 10th, 2021, to promote the sustainable development of the mining regions and to secure minerals under fierce global competition for securing resources.

KOMIR is the first public organization in Korea to provide full-stream integrated service, from technological development to resource exploration, development, production, and mine rehabilitation.

• We will take the lead in advancing the national mining industry by implementing a sustainable smart mining system.
• We will support private sector’s domestic and international resource development and mine rehabilitation by providing mining/rehabilitation technologies and financial services customized for each phase of the full mining stream.
• We will support the sustainable growth of the mining regions by promoting eco-friendly mine rehabilitation.
• We will also foster customized city rehabilitation and alternative industries for the mining regions’ self-reliance.
• We will secure stable supply of national critical minerals by providing advanced strategic stockpiling and recirculation of stockpiled rare metals essential for the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

KOMIR will grow into a trusted specialized organization responsible for the national resource security and the development of mining regions through transparent management and by fulfilling social responsibilities.
